I am torn! I am super excited that Nancy (Chloe’s mom) is returning to Days, but when I heard a fan favorite long time character was coming back I was thinking, in order of my personal excitement:
- MiMi?!
- Philip?!
- Shawn D and/or Belle?!
- Vivian (a girl can dream)?!
etc. etc.

But I am excited about Patrika Darbo as Nancy, and about Nadia Bjorlin bringing back Chloe Lane in January. Patrika is a great comedic actress, and Nancy was sneaky and manipulative, but also pretty funny. Although if Nancy is coming back, don’t we also need Kevin Spirtas as Craig?

I guess I’m never quite satisfied.

Irrational Musings
So at this point my husband (TheOtherDiMera) and I are at an impasse regarding the Nicole/Jen SL. I know Nicole lied. Repeatedly. For no real reason other than desperation and selfishness. But I also think Jen was out of line inserting herself into that situation, and treated then pregnant Nicole inappropriately. But seeing Jen apologize to Nicole yesterday made me come around to an ok resolution of that SL. Even if it was wildly unnecessary for everyone to pressure Nicole to the point of a suicide attempt and complete mental breakdown. I think Salem (and especially Abby!) may, (to use Jennifer Aniston terminology- she is Victor’s real life daughter after all), be missing a sensitivity chip.
I know my love of Nicole is just as irrational as my dislike of Jen, but who said opinions of DOOL had to be rational, right? I blame the out-of-the-park acting of Ari Zucker, who seems to be able to make me root for Nicole no matter what she does.

Sure, Nicole lost everything. But why not confront her about it in front of everyone. Abby, any salt to throw in her wounds?
Meanwhile, Kristin is back and John is back to being a complete idiot. “Kristin had no way of knowing I would be at the cabin.” Really, John? REALLY? She is a DiMera. You think they are incapable of eavesdropping and having people followed? Pa-lease. Eileen Davidson is rocking it in her return role, though, and even gave me a few moments pause as she laid out her most sympathetic arguments for herself. I honestly don’t know where this SL is going, and I love it.

Nothing to see here. Just two ex-enemies sleeping in on a couch in a remote cabin. What happened to the bed in the Horton cabin btw?
In the younger set, Gabi and Nick are head over heals, which makes it a perfect time for Gabi to find out she is prego (this has been obvious since the day she and Will rekindled their bone-mance). Gabi went from insisting that Nick accept Will and Sonny to not really caring that he finds homosexuality wrong pretty quickly. Nick’s homophobia doesn’t make sense to me for his genius character with a heart of gold. Tad was much more believable as a homophobe, and now he’s playing matchmaker with Will and Sonny. Makes perfect sense.
Meanwhile Abby seems to be the only person in town who doesn’t know what Gabi did to Melanie or why, and everyone (except Chad) seems to have put that whole “I knew Melanie was kidnapped and where she was and didn’t tell anyone” thing behind them. I do kind of love how they are bringing back things, like Abby’s virginity, which they seemed to clumsily walk away from earlier on.
Meanwhile Sonny and Will broke up because Lucas needed a story line to be involved in, and Sonny doesn’t want to tell Will about his sexual past. Okaaaaaaay. This is just tension building before Will finds out Gabi is preggers, right?
Overall, I’m engaged and interested in where everything is going. Eric will be coming back soon, there are rumors of a TBD character making a return, some hotter guy is coming in to play Cameron, and I am loving Salem. Even if my opinions are irrational, at least the show is interesting enough to have irrational opinions about, amiright?
Retro FriDAYS: Jessica Blake Fallon Edition
Jessica Blake Fallon (played by Jean Bruce Scott) returned recently to play Nick Fallon’s woebegone mother, doing what pretty much any mom would do in her situation. We’ll see whether her character is a presence long-term.
Essentially she came to Salem in 1980 and met Joshua Fallon. She had multiple personality syndrome (hence Melanie’s reference to Josh’s mother’s mental health issues), yada yada yada, and eventually married Joshua.
This is her wedding from approximately 1982. Thanks to YouTube user Ziggyelman for the awesome clips!
Be sure to scroll through to see a couple of bonus Jean Bruce Scott videos.

In non-news news, Lisa Rinna leaving Days
She has popped in here and there over the course of her 9 month return to Days, but The Huffington Post reported that Lisa Rinna is leaving us again. (Side note: I love that The Huffington Post is reporting on Days).
I don’t know exactly how to describe my feelings about this, because I don’t really care. Most of Billie’s time was spent ineffectually spying on EJ or being called “sis” by Austin. So I think I will put my feelings into a poem:
Lisa
we barely knew thee
good luck on QVC
(SPOILER ALERT) Chloe/Nadia Bjorlin returning to Days!!
As reported by TV guide, Nadia Bjorlin will be reprising her role as Chloe! Nadia says she will be coming back as “the old Chloe”, which is exciting to hear!!
We have been saying that Days is in serious need of some available females, and I am stoked to hear Chloe won’t be the town bicycle anymore. I can’t wait to see what they do with the Parker storyline! Maybe Chloe could get with Brady again- and not die? Who knows!
What do you guys think about the return of Chloe? If only we could get her mother Fary to join her (Dirty Soap fans, you know what I’m talking about). I wouldn’t mind some Brandom Beemer either.
Welcome Back Chloe/Nadia!!
Blake Berris aka Nick Fallon in Jack in the Box Commercial
Is it just me, or has Blake Berris (aka Nick Fallon) been EVERYWHERE lately. I guess not really, since we started watching Breaking Bad about a year late, but I did a double take when this new Jack in the Box ad come on.
The ad featured Berris as a hung over dude with his friend passed out surrounded by Jack in the Box. Then it pans over to Jack, who was their designated driver. Pretty cute, although slightly ridic (were they just going to drunk drive? how did they get to Jack in the Box? Am I taking the time to poke plot holes in a commercial?). At any rate, I am getting stoked to see Nick Fallon back in Salem soon. Woot!
If you need a Nick Fallon refresher, check out our Retro FriDAYS post about him.
Patrick Muldoon on The Soup
So this is kind of dated, because he was on a couple weeks ago when we were on vaca. But this clip of Patrick Muldoon on The Soup is worth the wait if you haven’t seen it. He references his story line with Abby longingly, and Joel McHale doesn’t let it go unnoticed. He also refers to Rupert Sanders (the director Kristin Stewart cheated on Robert Pattinson with) as an inspiration. Amazing. I’m not sure if I like Patrick Muldoon more or less after watching this clip.
Sorry for the video quality:
Greg Vaughan started filming as Eric Brady today
Soap Opera Digest reported that Greg Vaughan, of General Hospital, Young and the Restless, and 90210 fame, started filming on Days today as Eric Brady.
We haven’t seen Eric Brady in a while in Salem. According to his wikipedia page he left town in 2000. I don’t need wikipedia to tell me that he was last played by hottie Jensen Ackles (who went on to be on Supernatural). What do we think he is going to come back and do? Who is he going to date? There is a seriously lack of ladies in that age bracket. Excited to see what Eric Brady will bring to the table.
Peter Reckell’s Last Day Filming
Today is Peter Reckell’s last day of shooting on Days. I am sad to see him go.

Bo isn’t my favorite character, but there is a distinction between a character I like and an actor I like (I also recognize Alison Sweeney is such a good actress she makes it easy for me to hate Sami).
I like Peter Reckell. He started on Days the year I was born (I’m gonna make you google it though, I’m not thrilled about my impending birthday). Other than the brief Robert Kelker-Kelly days, Peter Reckell has been Beauregard “Bo” Aurelius Brady from the beginning, and Salem isn’t going to be the same without him. (Side note: it seems some small miracle that with a name like Beauregard Aurelius he survived elementary school).
The wikipedia page for Bo doesn’t do him justice (although it was updated to include that his last day is today). It doesn’t include the epic romances he had with Carly, Billie, and of course Hope. It doesn’t include his penchant for thumb rings, or his ever changing epic hair.
Here’s wishing Peter Reckell the best of luck in his future endeavors. He has been a part of my Days life, entering my living room every day, for as long as I can remember, and I appreciate his hard work and talent.
SPOILER ALERT: Peter Reckell on Leaving Days
Yesterday, as we caught up on FriDAYS, we started wondering what Peter Reckell’s exit really might mean for Salem (and I haven’t read spoilers, so if you know, forgive my probably off base guesses). My main question is whether they could possibly re-cast the part (when Bo and Hope return from their honeymoon, Bo has gotten a tan- and facial reconstructive surgery?), or if he will be written off the show.
Is it possible that Robert Kelker-Kelly could reprise his role? I note that he is younger than Peter Reckell, but he doesn’t appear to have acted in the last 10 years either. According to his wikipedia page he is now a flight instructor in Missouri.
It seems crazy that they would write him off the show, but equally crazy that they would recast him. What do you guys think? I am sad for Peter Reckell, he doesn’t sound like he is leaving under the conditions he would have chosen. I hope they let him keep all of his thumb rings and ridiculous watches when he goes- for old times sake.
