Wednesday LOL Dayz: Unusual Suspects Edition

Retro FriDAYS: Kimmy Gibbler used to be on DOOL??? Edition
I was working on a different Retro FriDAYS concept when I came across this discovery and had to share.
Y’all remember Full House, right? The show that made us think Bob Sagat was a decent person?
What about DJ’s weird friend Kimmy Gibbler?
Looooooongtime DOOL fans may know actress Andrea Barber from before that. A role she originated: Carrie Reed.
A Dr. Tom Horton appearance in this video, which also features Josh “Roman Brady” Taylor (playing Det. Chris Kositchek) talking on the phone with Wayne Northrup, who used to play Roman Brady. Whoa.
Roman and Abe put together a crib, with help from Carrie
Even back then, the kids were just a sideshow. But here’s a clip for all you BOPE fans:
Hush, little baby.
Oh no! I hope she’s OK!
But things apparently went well for OG Carrie after her run in primetime: She retired from acting, had two kids, went to the same undergrad college as Richard Nixon and lives in England, where she got her master’s degree in women’s studies.
Seems like she had a much easier go of it post-Full House than this guy (NOT SAFE FOR WORK)
H/T Youtube user Ariel61959 for the incredible playlist!
Retro FriDAYS: Au revoir, Renee “Lexie DiMera Carver” Jones
We here at salemonSalem.com applaud anyone who can retire early and control their own destiny, so good for Renee Jones on her impending retirement after playing Lexie DiMera Carver for two decades.
Lexie may not have stolen the show in recent years, but she’s been part of some crucial stories over her run, spanning from 1987 to today, with a break in the early 90s. Her shady family background only exacerbated the internal battle between her angels and demons – an ambiguity that came to define her character. You probably already know she was the longest-running black female character on television – no small feat. TV Guide says Jones’ departure is the end of the line for Lexie, but who knows?
This week’s Retro FriDAYS is a tribute to a vaguely psychic MD who used to be a cop and, before she died dies, was Salem’s First Lady. What else could an illegitimate child of Stefano DiMera ask for?
There was her off-and-really off relationship with Sami…
(skip to 5:27 for violence)
File this under Awkward Man on Woman Violence at 5:40
Her troubled relationship with her mother, Celeste
And her marriage to Abe
You can’t talk about Lexie without talking about affairs. As her Wikipedia article noted, “Sami has blackmailed Lexie on a number of occasions due to Lexie’s repeated adultery.”
Here’s a couple:
Tek & Lex
Lexie and Brandon go clubbin’ with Nicole
Then Brandon gives Lexie a clubbin’ IfYaKnowWhatIMean
And finally, a video here just for its innate awesomeness. Lexie meets Marlo in this epic look back. NerdChloe! Victor! Bope! Stefano! Belle! Marlena! Alice! Shawn!
Thursday LOL DAYZ
Retro FriDAYS: What is seen cannot be unseen edition
If Salem’s lusty-loos would only lock their doors, the writers wouldn’t have such a tried-and-true plot device to inject a little rage and/or awkwardness into relationships.
Today’s Retro FriDAYS is a tribute to all those men and women whose lives would have been different had they never seen what was on the other side of that door…
The conference table tryst heard round the world
Sami learned well…
And, at least one time, got as good as she gave.
Max and Stephanie go spelunking
What kind of name is Tek anyway?
Kate gets a little too familiar with Lumi
Victor walks in on Nicole and Colin
Rarely is the walker-inner the one shamed, but on DOOL you can never say never.
And here’s what you do when you’re the caught-ee. Thanks Shaggy!
The Elexion
Pun intended. A lot of people out there in the DOOL fandom world have complained that the election is boring and stupid. I should point out up front that I am an election lawyer, so I may be more interested in these types of things than the average bear. There were low points, but right now, I think the election SL is getting interesting!
In the beginning, it seemed like an obvious battle of good guys (Abe and Jennifer) versus bad guys (EJ and Nicole). And, as I often do, I was rooting for the bad guys. Mostly because I kind of love Nicole. Her character has made less sense as of late, but I love to see her channel her scheming into something other than babies or men.
But then lo and behold, there was a role reversal when Jennifer decided they needed to get down into the mud if they wanted a chance at winning. No, I have not forgotten that EJ framed John to try to win, and tried to get the questions himself, but suddenly it became an “anything goes” race, rather than a good guys versus bad guys battle.

Jennifer and the massive "press corps". Wasn't watching her gloat more annoying than the usual DOOL gloating?
And now the fall out! What exactly did Nicole do? Was the election worker talking to Jennifer a set up? Or did he do it on his own? Or did Jennifer decide she wanted the results switched without Abe’s approval?
And WHAT is up with Lexie’s reaction to finding out Abe switched the questions? As I recall, Lexie is a DiMera, and she cheated on Abe in the past, and he has managed to forgive her. But now she is going to leave the father of their child because he tried to fight fire with fire?!?! Sure, he made her lie, but if she had known wouldn’t she have lied anyway?
Stefano’s reaction to EJ losing (at first) was equally ridiculous. For someone who “loves family,” he can show it in odd ways. But the good v. evil dynamic between Stefano and EJ is always interesting, and EJ’s attempt to get his kids to see him differently is charming, if unbelievable.
It was slow at first, but I have come around on the election SL. It has kept me relatively entertained, and it has me truly stumped about what exactly is going on that we haven’t seen yet. Is Will involved? Did EJ really win, or did Nicole cheat for him? I can’t wait to find out!

WednesDAYS Recap
Bope and RIP Rafe2
Good job, Officer Chen. Rafe2 is still dead, and Bo is trying to shake out who commuted Rafe2’s sentence on earth to time served.
Vivian, Gus
Viv thinks Dr. Manning can’t be in the same room with Daniel without wanting to jump his bones, so she conspires to send them to Melaswen or something.
She puts on her best Blanche DuBois voice and convinces Jen to head to the Sapphire Club… where Daniel and Carly are headed on their “date.”
Daniel and Carly
Carly’s been hanging around the hospital a lot lately. Just the place for Gus to be doing a little espionage
Carly’s looking good for the “date” but Maxine says she’s the only doctor and someone’s in a bad way…..
He doesn’t like her examination style so he wants an MRI. She thinks that’s a splendid idea. She tells Gus his health problems might clear up if he ditched Viv.
SAFE & Johnny
Johnny’s having nightmares, so they ship him off to bed. Just as they’re gloating, ring goes the iPhone – Abe with some bad news.
SAFE takes off to the police station to confront the DiMeras and see what’s going on.
BOPE, Stefano, EJ, Roman, Abe & Taylor at the police station
Ever the optimists, Bope come bopping in saying they have a full confession, signed sealed and deliered by Rafe2. They don’t mention his fate. DA Woods takes care of that by walking in throwing a fit about “We got nothing!”
As the DiMeras are released, DA Woods is all “You blew it, commissioner. I don’t know how, but you blew it. Congratulations!”
Chabby & DA Woods at the Cheating Heart
DA Woods heads to The Cheating Heart to be a world-class jerk, taunting Chad about how his gangster father wriggled free of the Salem justice system.
DA Woods then calls out Chad for seeing dollar signs when he found out he was a DiMera, while Chad points out DA Woods is a dirtbag. Chad then blocks an attempted roundhouse from DA Woods, who tells Abby to get out while she still can. You go Chad, way to stand up for yourself against your somehow worst than the DiMeras ex-father.
Dannifer at the Sapphire Club
They run into each other at the club and are all hey how ya doin’. Carly says she’s tied up at the hospital (or rather Gus says so for her), and whoever Jen was supposed to “meet” (the Viv setup) is a no-show, so boom goes the Daniffer?
So they do their Daniffer thing and flirt awkwardly over champagne until she thinks Daniel set her up. He’s insulted. She’s sorry and embarrassed. Then they make out while Carly watches with tears in her eyes..
Taylor and EJ
Taylor says not to fight for his kids, he says that’s none of her business. That’s the Elvis we know and love. Then he asks for forgiveness…
Rafe1 and Guys Who Killed Rafe2
Guys understandably think they’ve seen a ghost, but he’s there for answers, which he gets in about 2 minutes.
Sami & EJ at the DiMera mansion
Sami, determined to fly off the handle, goes to the DiMera mansion without telling Rafe. She says he can’t take the kids from her – he’s harmed them enough and says Johnny will never forgive him. He’s been working on some legal paperwork, and says Sami doesn’t have a choice.
Rafe2 goes back to the apartment to find Sami is gone. Assuming she’s doing something stupid, he takes off.
In fact EJ is offering full custody of the kids saying he doesn’t deserve them. I don’t think Stefano is going to be happy about this plan.
TuesDAYS Recap: Bite Size Edition
Today the recap is bite sized, mostly because our camera apparently only pretended to take pictures and we didn’t notice until we had already erased the episode. Alas. All you really need to know is that Rafe2 is dead, ie the Salem Police have blown it again. SURPRISE!
DiMera Mansion: EJ, Stefano, cops
Stefano: I always have a plan. Apparently that plan is to skip town. Sadly the plane has been grounded, and EJ thinks it’s a stupid plan. He starts using his noodle and lawyering, then they get arrested. Then he runs into Taylor on the way home. Ridiculous. Do they really need to have the same convo for the 100th time?
Police Station: Bo, Hope, DA, Lexie
Bo gloats that this is the best case they’ve had against the DiMeras. Lexie confronts the DA about Chad, and he tells her to “go to hell.” Good for Lexie, that DA is a real jerko.
Oh no, then they put in some riff raff with Rafe2 and they beat him to death thinking he’s Rafe (and therefore an FBI agent). Aaaaaand he’s dead. This is one time I think Arnold would have rather been himself.
Safe, Darlo, Sophia
Sami gets jealous about Rafe’s hot ex partner, then mad she didn’t know about the Columbian drug heiress plot. Sami has a lot of nerve getting jealous, but Rafe thinks it’s “cute.”
Brady, Taylor, Nicole, Abe
Abe tells everyone that Rafe2 got a deal and is getting out of jail. Nicole is upset, but glad it could make EJ go to jail for what he’s done. She has to remind Taylor, of course, as to why EJ should be punished. Then we get some Bricole! She pours her heart out to Brady with sincerity. Team Bricole!
