Daytime Emmy Nominations!!!

A big congratulations to Days of our Lives for 17 Daytime Emmy nominations. The show was nominated for several awards, including outstanding drama, directing team, hair, makeup, editing, music, technical direction, stunt coordination, art direction, casting, costume design (for drama series).

Peggy McCay, aka Caroline Brady was nominated for lead actress in a drama series. She did a great job making the Alzheimers story line personal and relatable, and she has been cracking me up at the strip club lately.

Arianne Zucker, aka Nicole Walker was nominated for supporting actress in a drama series. It is hard to call AZ/Nicole a supporting actress, as she is part of the heart of the show, and she is one of my favorites. Even when Nicole is acting crazy (read: most of the time) I can’t help but root for her. Zucker has chemistry with almost anyone, and she sells even the most ridiculous of lines.

Freddie Smith aka Sonny Kiriakis and Chandler Massey aka Will Horton were both nominated for outstanding younger actor in a drama series. I think both actors have done an amazing job with their story line, taking their characters beyond just being seen as gay, and making them more complex and interesting. Chandler Massey won the Emmy in this category last year.

It’s easy to forget all the hard work that goes into making a show like Days. I am happy to see so many people recognized, and I wish there were even more. The Young and the Restless, General Hospital, and Sesame Street all got more nominations than Days this year. CBS got twice as many nominations as NBC. But who’s counting. Congratulations and a big thank you to everyone who makes a show that bring so many people so much joy (even if most of the time we complain about it, we still love it enough to watch every day :) )!

The Daytime Emmys FTW!!

We had a lot of fun watching the the Daytime Emmys this year!! Days had a few big wins. I was most excited that Chandler Massey took home the Emmy for younger actor!

It was great to see some of his coworkers cheering him on :)

Abby and Cameron looking very dapper.

The Days writing team also won for outstanding writing, for the first time since the 1970s.

Lisa Rinna, Kristian Alfonso, and Deidre Hall all presented, as well as the younger actor/actress nomiees (Chandler Massey, Molly Burnett and Shelley Hennig).

Check out a complete list of winners here.

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees. It was so fun to see everyone celebrating daytime television.

And the nominees are…

Today is Daytime Emmy nomination day, which means lots of accolades for some Days of Our Lives actors, writers, producers and staff.

For me the highlights are that both Chandler Massey (Will) and Molly Burnett (Melanie) were nominated for outstanding younger actor/actress. Interestingly, Shelley Hennig (Stephanie) was also nominated. It seems like forever ago that Stephanie mysteriously disappeared with no explanation from the show. Her character wasn’t my fave (to put it mildly), but Shelley has moved on to a CW show called The Secret Circle, which is a win win as far as I’m concerned (ironically she plays a witch… again).

Yay for Chandler Massey! He deserves it!

Yay for Molly! She deserves it!

It was very interesting to see what other actors from Days were nominated, since one is already gone and another is on his way out. Crystal Chappell got a nom for her role as the now road tripping Carly Manning.

Crystal Chappell aka Carly Manning rocked it out as a drug addicted doctor.

Matthew Ashford aka Jack got a nom for outstanding supporting actor, which redoubles my disappointment that he will no longer be on the show. He barely had a chance to get back into his Jack groove.

Matthew Ashford shouldn't be surprised, he has done well in his small moments, as a man with PTSD fighting for the love of his wife.

That’s it for Days actor nominations. I like the ones they picked, but of course I also would have picked others (Lauren Koslow, James Scott, and Freddie Smith, to name a few), but I guess they have to let the actors from the other soaps have a shot too. Big congratulations to our Emmy nominees. They deserve it!!
