Elevators are a great plot device – mostly when they get stuck. You would think Salem County’s elevator inspector would be on thin ice with all these accidents. Here’s a look back:
Going… down?
Carly lives it up while they’re going down
I missed the Kaman days. Looks like they were pretty entertaining.
Remember when this happened?
Ejole!
Belle, my belle
I don’t know who Shelle is, do you? (Editor’s note: TheOtherDiMera didn’t watch back then, but MrsKiriakis did. Shelle=Shawn and Belle)
Finally, a compilation with some you’ve already seen, and some you haven’t.
For a show centered around the love lives in Salem, it only makes sense that marriage (or at least a stab at it) would be part and parcel. This week’s Retro FriDAYS takes a look at hopeful men, and sometimes apprehensive women.
Roman gets down on one knee for a woman used to getting on both of hers.
Seeing Jack makes me sad. So much more they could have done bringing him back.
For all the LUMI lovers
And a ride into the sunset
E.J. has gotten pretty good at this. Here’s highlights.
This feels like ancient history, even though it was earlier this year. Also a reminder of how all over the place writing has been this year.
One of the most delightfully complex characters on Days, Victor is also one of the most audacious: “So I stole your eggs howevermanyyearsago, who cares right?” He’s lucky Maggie’s too nice to try what so many other women have in the past. We could (and probably will) make a Retro FriDAYS about all his marriages at some point, but today we focus on his tumultuous relationships with the fairer sex…
Will Caroline shoot Victor? (in 1986)
Kate helped set all this in motion to put Victor six feet under
Victor tells Nicole how it’s gonna be in this clip
So she gets her uppance the only way she knows how: Erratically and half-assed
Where do we even start. The amazing Stefano set up? The moment he spit?
Kate’s complete and utter freak out?
I like STATE as a couple. They are/were actually probably my favorite couple on the show right now. Who would have thunk a marriage that started with blackmail would end with heartbreak?
I am kind of embarrassed to admit this, but I also felt bad for both Kate and Stefano. I think they really love each other, in their evil soapy characters way, and it was one of those rare moments where I thought “can’t you both just pretend it never happened?” Better yet, “can’t we both pretend Ian never came to Salem in the first place.” Usually I relish the dramatic breakup moment, but this one made me kind of sad.
And that’s the key point. I like Kate and Stefano and I don’t want to blame either one of them, so I am going to channel all my rage and disappointment in the Crypt Keeper himself:
The name's Ian, but you can call me Creeps McGee.
Is there any way Stefano will forgive Kate? Take her back? Here is what I am hoping (not a spoiler, just my dream plot twist): Kate comes up with something big to use against Stefano, blackmails HIM into staying together, and he falls in love with her all over again. A girl can dream.
Who's laughing now? Not funny.
PS: How amazing was Lauren Koslow when Kate completely lost her shiz. Like whoa. That woman can act.
I love me some Kate: Lauren Koslow looks ridiculously fantastic at age 59 and Kate is a great character.
Ian McCalister is no Stefano DiMera, but apparently Kate just can’t get enough. Alas, she’s kinda like Salem’s town bicycle – everybody gets a ride sooner or later. Aside, of course, from her past as an actual prostitute.
Ironically, her most enduring relationship was with Victor, and I couldn’t find videos of them together that were embeddable, so go here for your “Murder of Curtis Reed/Brown” flashback featuring OG Kate actress Deborah Adair.
Here’s more highlights:
Kate tells John about her past, with her body
Wonder if this gets awkward around the mansion?
MOM!!! Gross!!!
This is supposed to be just a fantasy, but wait for the end, wait for it…
Kate loves the old sex on the desk thing, doesn’t she?
Don’t forget the roof!
More Nicholas and Kate
Even back then, Daniel made no sense
Finally, Kate with her (soon to be ex?) husband Stefano DiMera
