Mrs. Kirkakis wanted this week’s subject to be about how Sami never learns anything ever, which is a great idea but would be at least a 10-parter. Instead we take a look back at the last time everyone thought half the town was dead… or, used to think they were dead… or something.
First we take you to Marlena’s funeral. You’d think that, given a second chance to spend time with her mom, that Sami wouldn’t be such a B about it these days. (Then she was sorry again, then she was a B again)
OhMyGodEveryoneIsDead! More importantly, Jack’s baby mullet!
Marlena goes to… hell?
Did I miss anything?
How in the hell did we get here?
Come on, who else is rich, evil and bored enough to do this?
I was working on a different Retro FriDAYS concept when I came across this discovery and had to share.
Y’all remember Full House, right? The show that made us think Bob Sagat was a decent person?
What about DJ’s weird friend Kimmy Gibbler?
Looooooongtime DOOL fans may know actress Andrea Barber from before that. A role she originated: Carrie Reed.
A Dr. Tom Horton appearance in this video, which also features Josh “Roman Brady” Taylor (playing Det. Chris Kositchek) talking on the phone with Wayne Northrup, who used to play Roman Brady. Whoa.
Roman and Abe put together a crib, with help from Carrie
Even back then, the kids were just a sideshow. But here’s a clip for all you BOPE fans:
Hush, little baby.
Oh no! I hope she’s OK!
But things apparently went well for OG Carrie after her run in primetime: She retired from acting, had two kids, went to the same undergrad college as Richard Nixon and lives in England, where she got her master’s degree in women’s studies.
Seems like she had a much easier go of it post-Full House than this guy (NOT SAFE FOR WORK)
H/T Youtube user Ariel61959 for the incredible playlist!
We here at salemonSalem.com applaud anyone who can retire early and control their own destiny, so good for Renee Jones on her impending retirement after playing Lexie DiMera Carver for two decades.
Lexie may not have stolen the show in recent years, but she’s been part of some crucial stories over her run, spanning from 1987 to today, with a break in the early 90s. Her shady family background only exacerbated the internal battle between her angels and demons – an ambiguity that came to define her character. You probably already know she was the longest-running black female character on television – no small feat. TV Guide says Jones’ departure is the end of the line for Lexie, but who knows?
This week’s Retro FriDAYS is a tribute to a vaguely psychic MD who used to be a cop and, before she died dies, was Salem’s First Lady. What else could an illegitimate child of Stefano DiMera ask for?
There was her off-and-really off relationship with Sami…
(skip to 5:27 for violence)
File this under Awkward Man on Woman Violence at 5:40
Her troubled relationship with her mother, Celeste
And her marriage to Abe
You can’t talk about Lexie without talking about affairs. As her Wikipedia article noted, “Sami has blackmailed Lexie on a number of occasions due to Lexie’s repeated adultery.”
Here’s a couple:
Tek & Lex
Lexie and Brandon go clubbin’ with Nicole
Then Brandon gives Lexie a clubbin’ IfYaKnowWhatIMean
And finally, a video here just for its innate awesomeness. Lexie meets Marlo in this epic look back. NerdChloe! Victor! Bope! Stefano! Belle! Marlena! Alice! Shawn!
